After attempting to settle an open batch, the error message that prints out says “Error in Batch”. This error means that there is a corrupted transaction in the open batch that is preventing the authorizations from settlement. Batches will not close, but new transactions will be allowed to authorize.
Fixing “Error in Batch” on a PAX A80/A920:
STEP 1: Identify the bad transaction
- Contact your host (where the transaction processes)
- As the support agent to review the open batch(es) on your account for any bad transactions
- Request the amount, full card number, and expiration date (you’ll need these later).
- On your terminal, go to your processing application (ex: TSYS Sierra)
- Tap FUNC (or swipe your finger to the left twice to get to the FUNC area)
- Tap History (if prompted for a password use the current date DDMMYYYY format)
- On the upper right hand corner of the screen, tap the magnifying glass to search
- Tap By Last 4 Digits from the drop-down menu
- Type or tap the last four of the card number you received from the host and tap Search
- The transaction will show on the screen – tap the transaction.
- Look for “Transaction No.” and write that number down. We will use it in Step 2.
STEP 2: Clear the bad transaction
The bad transaction is stuck on the terminal, so we need to eliminate it from the terminal.
- Open your processing application (ex: TSYS Sierra)
- Tap FUNC (or swipe your finger to the left twice to get to the FUNC area)
- Tap Settings (if prompted for a password use the current date DDMMYYYY format)
- Tap Other Settings
- Tap Clear by Trans.
- Enter the transaction number and tap OK
- The transaction details will show, use your finger to scroll down and tap CONFIRM
- Tap OK
- Terminal will say Transaction Deleted
STEP 3: Settle the batch
Once the transaction has been cleared, the batch should settle.
